Jarred Taylor was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Mysteriously, he lacks a southern accent. He attended The Altamont School and was active in the Boy Scouts of America, earning his Eagle Scout rank in 2001.
Jarred attended Davidson College, majoring in Political Science and French. He spent his junior year abroad in Tours, France. At Davidson, he enjoyed playing drums for the Wildcats Pep Band and held a variety of leadership positions with the student radio station, WALT.
In between undergraduate years, he interned at Lightfoot Franklin & White LLC in Birmingham, at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington D.C., and for Dr. Patrick Sellers at Davidson College.
Graduating magna cum laude from Davidson in 2007, he moved to Washington, D.C. to work as a paralegal for Williams & Connolly LLP. A year later, he moved across the country to Mountain View, CA to become a legal assistant for Google. He currently lives in San Francisco.
Jarred plans to begin law school in 2010. His professional interests include intellectual property, privacy, and business law. He hopes to one day work as an in-house counsel for a technology company.
From 2005 to 2007, Jarred kept a personal blog (now retired) to chronicle his adventures in France. In 2008, he took up blogging again by starting Tropophilia with his best friend Taylor. His writing there focuses on web 2.0, social networking, and the intersection of people’s physical and virtual worlds and lives.
